Shocker Hitch 5th Wheel Gooseneck Adapter - SHK47YR

Features to know about

Smooth Out Rough Roads: Air Bag and Bumper Stop Shock Absorption

Towing can get rough when every bump and dip sends shock through your setup. The Shocker Hitch Quick Air Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box uses a built-in air bag and rubber bumpers to take the hit instead. Acting like an air suspension between your truck and trailer, it absorbs road shock and braking jolts to create a much smoother ride. This setup helps protect your truck and trailer from wear on the frame, suspension, and brakes while keeping things steady and comfortable mile after mile.

Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount with Shank – heavy-duty adjustable trailer hitch featuring dual hitch balls, torsion flex system, and durable black powder-coated steel construction.

Dial In Your Ride: Adjustable Air Pressure for Every Load

Every load tows a little different, and this hitch lets you fine-tune that feel. The easily accessible air valve on top of the unit lets you adjust the air bag from about 15-20 psi for a full trailer to 25-35 psi for heavy equipment. Once you’ve unloaded, just release some air for a softer ride home. Even if you can’t air it up, the built-in bumper stops still give you a cushioned tow. It’s a simple, flexible way to match your setup to your haul.

More Room to Turn: 3" Offset Adds Extra Clearance

If you’ve ever worried about your trailer getting too close to the cab on tight turns, this pin box fixes that. The 3" offset moves the coupler rearward for extra turning clearance. That space makes a big difference when maneuvering in tight spots, helping prevent contact between your trailer and truck while keeping your towing setup balanced and easy to handle.

Strong and Secure Connection: Dual Locking Bars Reduce Rattle

Hooking up should feel solid, not sloppy. The Shocker Hitch uses a Shift Lock mechanism with thick, dual locking bars that clamp the ball tightly from both sides—no single pin or loose fit here. Once the lever’s pulled down and the pin and clip are in place, you’ve got a firm, rattle-free connection you can trust. There’s even a hole on top of the lever for attaching a pulley, so you can release it from outside the bed for quick, easy unhooking.

Built to Handle Big Loads: 24,000 lbs GTW and 6,000 lbs Pin Weight

When you’re hauling heavy, this hitch brings the muscle. Rated for 24,000 lbs gross towing weight and 6,000 lbs pin weight, it’s ready for serious fifth-wheel duty. The steel body is shot-blasted and powder-coated for durability, with a built-in grease zerk for easy maintenance. Between the strength, clean finish, and thoughtful design, it’s made to keep working as hard as you do.

  • Differences Between the Gen-Y and Shocker 5th Wheel Pin Boxes
Hey Don, the Shocker # SHK47YR and the Gen-Y # GY48GR are pretty close, but there are some differences. The Shocker hitch has a 3" offset coupler whereas the Gen-Y does not. The Shocker has a bit higher weight rating at 24,000 lbs where the Gen-Y has a 21,000 lb capacity. The Shocker also has a higher pin weight rating at 6,000 lbs, where the Gen-Y has a 3,500 lb capacity. Both of these pin boxes will ultimately work fine to replace a Lippert Turning Point Pin Box and will be a great...

  • Replacement Gooseneck Pin Box for 2019 Grand Design Reflection
Hello Mark; is this a 2019 Grand Design Reflection? Assuming it is, the lowest listed GVWR is 8,995 lbs on the 220RK. The unloaded weight is 6,695 lbs but that isn't what determines fitment, and you're going to be heavier than that no matter what. Is that what you have? Also, do you have a Lippert Turning Point right now? If you do, then the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY48GR will actually work for you. If you have a different model, or different pin box...

Hey Carl, thanks for the pics! You are correct the Shocker Hitch Quick Air Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box item # SHK47YR does have the built in chain attachment point. You can use the Reese Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks item # RP49151. It looks like from your picture the Shocker item # SHK47YR is exactly what you need for your 2020 Flagstaff 529RBS. It only works with the Lippert or Curt Turning Point 5th-wheel pin boxes. For a set of air bags on your 2005 Ford F-250,...

  • Recommended Gooseneck Pin Box Adapter
Welcome back Adam. I can indeed tell you what gooseneck adapter you'll need for your 5th wheel trailer but I'll need the information on the sticker that's attached to the bracket above your current pin box. The white sticker should say date of manufacture, weight capacity, and have some form of RPO, LCI, or serial number on it. If you could email me directly a picture of it to the address you receive this response from or carefully put all that information where it says Add Comment, I...

  • Is Shocker Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box Safe to Use With Recessed Gooseneck Ball
Hey Angie! The Shocker Hitch Quick Air Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box # SHK47YR is safe to use with your recessed ball. However, you need to make sure the top of the ball is no more than 2" from the top of the flat bed. You also need to make sure the recessed area is at least 12" x 12". I attached a picture below so you can see what I'm talking about. Is your current pin box a Lippert Turning Point? If it isn't, or you aren't sure, you will need to identify the pin box to make...

  • Comparing the Shocker Hitch and Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Boxes
Hey Donald, thanks for reaching out! The main difference between the Shocker Hitch # SHK47YR and Gen-Y # GY48GR 5th wheel to gooseneck pin boxes is that the Shocker Hitch uses an air bag while the Gen-Y uses rubber torsion arms to provide a smoother towing experience. I personally like the idea of an air bag in this instance because you can adjust the amount of pressure as opposed to the torsion arms that are at a set amount of pressure. The only thing the torsion arms have over the air...

  • Can the Curt Helux Pin Box be Used to Replace Turning Point Pin Box?
Hey Bryan, good to hear from you again! The Curt Helux Shock-Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Boxes are currently only designed to replace the Rhino pin box. We have some alternatives, but they are the ones that connect to a gooseneck hitch ball like what we see with the Gen-Y # GY48GR and Shocker Hitch # SHK47YR. What is your reason for wanting to replace the Turning Point? I might be able to find an alternative solution for you.

  • Will Can Reese Goose Box Replace Curt Pin Box M2021102973-RA With Lippert Turning Point Bolt Pattern
Hey Taylor! It looks like you're referring to the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert Turning Point # GY48GR. That indicates that the Curt pin box on the 5th wheel has a Lippert Turning point bolt pattern. Unfortunately, the Reese Goose Box does not have a configuration that can fit the Turning Point making the Gen-Y one of two possible options. I'm not sure what trailer it is but, if you take the GVWR x 0.22 it should be 1,600-2,599 lbs to make sure the...

  • How Can I Determine The Correct Replacement Pin Box
Hello Gary, thanks for reaching out. We would just need to look at what pin box is currently on your camper. The Shocker Hitch Quick Air Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box # SHK47YR replaces the Lippert or Curt Turning Point 5th-wheel pin boxes. So if that is what you have now, the # SHK47YR will be correct. If you have a different pin box just let me know. The pin box size/type may be shown on the sticker. Or if you can tell me the brand/model number/serial number of you pin box...

I was able to reach out to Curt to confirm the pin box number. Your current one is a Lippert Rhino. • Is the Shocker Hitch or Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter a Better Choice?
Hey Matt, thanks for reaching out! Yes, both the Shocker Hitch # SHK47YR and Gen-Y # GY48GR 5th wheel to gooseneck pin boxes are great quality, and the real difference is just the air bag vs rubber torsion arms. The air bag system is one that I like a little better just because it is more customizable, but I do understand the "no maintenance" appeal of the Gen-Y setup as well. The Gen-Y is best for 5th wheels that have a calculated tongue weight of 1,600-2,599 lbs (which is your GVWR...

Hey Mark! Welcome back and thanks for providing that information. The pin box you have now is a Lippert Turning Point. Unfortunately, there is no version of the Reese Goose Box that fits this bolt pattern. Assuming you still want to swap out the pin box you can use the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY48GR or Shocker Hitch Quick Air Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box # SHK47YR. The Gen-Y uses a torsion system so it is maintenance free. It is also GVWR...

  • Recommended Shocker Hitch Pin Box Replacement for a Keystone 5th Wheel
Hey Mel, yeah the Shocker Hitch # SHK47YR would be an excellent upgrade to your current pin box but the only catch is - it's only going to work with Lippert or Curt Turning Point 5th-wheel pin boxes. If you had a Lippert 1716, 1116, and 0115, FabEx 500, 503, 520, 530, and 560 pin box then you could use # SHK55MR, or if you had the Lippert 1621, 0719, and Rhino then you could use # SHK23MR. So if you had any of those pin boxes, then this one would affectively bolt up and replace your current...

  • Is Shocker Hitch an American Made Brand?
Hey Jackson, good news! Shocker Hitch products, like the Shocker Hitch Quick Air Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Pin Box # SHK47YR is made in the USA. I did a little research and it looks like they (Shocker Hitch) came out in 2000, so they're only about 25 years old this year, which may be why you've never heard of them. If there is anything else I can help you with, feel free to drop a comment and I'd be happy to help!

  • Fifth Wheel Pin Box to Gooseneck Adapter for 2018 Grand Design Reflection 150 Series
Hey Paul, welcome back! So we have a fifth wheel to gooseneck solution similar to the Goose Box that can replace the Lippert Turning Point with the Shocker HItch Quick Air Adapter part # SHK47YR which would work great for you. This has a similar air bag cushioning system to the Goose Box. 4-6 inches is the minimum bed rail to trailer overhang clearance we like to recommend so if you are at 6 inches and will be losing around 3 inches that would be too low. Best solution would normally...
